Workshop #3 Recap & Review the Draft Plan

Thank you to all who came out for the third community meeting for the Dempster Corridor Plan on June 17th!

Workshop participants reviewed the draft plan’s goals, design toolbox, transportation strategies, and opportunity sites (view the workshop materials here).

Key themes we have heard from the public throughout the planning process continued:

  • Strong support for a more vibrant, pedestrian-friendly, and economically diverse corridor
  • Desire for modern mixed-use residential and small business opportunities
  • Focus on enhancing safety through improved pedestrian crossings, traffic calming measures, and expanded bicycle infrastructure
  • Enthusiasm for redevelopment or adaptive reuse of existing buildings at the three opportunity sites with support for a new grocery store, enhanced landscaping, and outdoor seating.

Draft Plan Ready for Review

The extensive community feedback received to date has led to the Draft Dempster Corridor Plan, now ready for review and comment!

Following a public review period, next steps include Plan Commission Review (expected in August) and Village Board adoption (expected in early Fall).
